A Thinking Ahead and Spellbound event

The Courage to Begin:
The Spellbound Launch

Monday 29 June 2026 | 16:30 – 19:00 PM BST | In-person event at WTW Offices

What does it mean to be a Professional 2.0 in a changing world? As technical expertise alone is no longer enough, confidence has become central to professional life. Join Dawid Konotey‑Ahulu CBE, co‑founder of Spellbound, as he explores this shift through film, live storytelling and practical insight.

Every story has a beginning. For Spellbound, it started with a simple but powerful realisation: too many capable voices were going unheard. What began as a small course designed to build confidence in public speaking soon grew into something far more impactful – from offices and boardrooms to universities and even prison wings.

The evening brings together course leaders, alumni and guests for a programme of film, panel discussion, live speeches and a masterclass in the art of powerful communication. No matter your background, this is an evening about finding your voice and sharing your story.

Bring a friend or colleague and register today.

Agenda

The Story so Far

Dawid Konotey- Ahulu

This opening chapter of the evening reveals how Spellbound began, how it grew, and why the power of confident communication can change lives. As part of this, Marisa Hall, Head of the Thinking Ahead Institute, opens with welcome remarks reflecting on what it means to be a “Professional 2.0” in a changing world.

Episode III – The Courage To Begin

Step into the world of Spellbound as we showcase Episode III. Explore the inspiration and purpose behind our programme.

Panel: The Voices Behind Spellbound

In this panel, we hear from course leaders and alumni who have helped shape the Spellbound journey. Our panel will share their experiences and reflect on the impact of the programme. This conversation offers a glimpse into the growing story of Spellbound.

The Spellbound Journey

In this session, we hear directly from Spellbound alumni as they take to the stage to share their stories. Through a series of short speeches, their stories capture the heart of the Spellbound programme.

Men Behind Walls

Spellbound’s most powerful work has been in some of the UK’s toughest prisons as men behind walls have learnt to tell their story. To look in the mirror and take ownership of their lives and narrative. No matter how difficult their past, this is where redemption begins.

Masterclass

How do great public speakers hold the room spellbound? Are they born with special skills or can anyone learn the mysterious art; to touch an audience, make them laugh, gasp, weep, or change the world? What are the essential ingredients of a truly powerful speech?

The Next Chapter

The Spellbound journey is only just beginning and we look towards shaping the next chapter. This session explores how individuals and organisations can support Spellbound. Together, we look forward to the opportunities ahead and the role each of us can play in shaping the future of Spellbound and young people everywhere.
