Paul wind surfing Tell me a little about yourself: Hi there, I’m Paul, a 50-something who has worked at the Institute since 2016 and at the company since 2002. I live in Twickenham, London with my French translator wife and two twenty-something working kids and Snoopy, our Basset fauve de Bretagne. I started working life as a professional photographer in an amazing job but moved into financial services communications as I learnt new skills and broadened my interests. I’ve had three distinct jobs at the company (and several more outside) and after 26 years of work recognise that I enjoy being busy, challenged and learning new stuff. Outside work I enjoy gardening, sport (watching rugby, playing golf and cricket) and doing exercise – including running and walking the dog.

What has been the highlight of your career so far? Getting my first real job at a big corporate HQ – that was a massive and defining highlight.
What is your favourite thing about working for TAI? Building relationships with individuals at member companies and getting new companies to join us.

Tell me about a favourite childhood memory: Outdoor freedom every day.

What is your favourite movie, and why?
Jean de Florette | Manon des sources. Beautiful cinematography in a stunning setting; simple but strong story line (with some depth) and great actors and actresses.

Where is your favourite place to go to unwind? Wind surfing on the south west coast of France or if that’s not possible out in the garden.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
This too will pass.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?
Relax.

Who does the cooking in your household?
All four of us do and there is a rota now (especially for the youngsters!) I also love to BBQ.

How would your wife describe you in three words:
Intense, generous and averse-to-mediocrity.
